The London based Academy of Chocolate (AOC) was launched in 2005 by 5 of England's leading chocolate ambassadors with the purpose to encourage chocolate lovers around the world to see beyond the many chocolate brands, and distinguish between the mass produced confectionery chocolate and the "real" dark chocolate.
The Academy's objective is to widen the overall chocolate knowledge by promoting an understanding of the basic ingredients of chocolate. A promotion which is based on the chocolate’s way from bean to finished bar and thus emphasizes a clean, rich chocolate with simple ingredients without additives of any kind. As the Academy's philosophy and chocolate Code of Conduct has caught on, the recognition is now valued as an ultimate stamp of quality for all chocolate manufacturers to strive for. With hopeful participants from around the world the AOC's award is an important annual event in chocolate calendar. Based on 450 selected chocolates, the assessment runs over 4 days with 30 blind-tasting judges, who include some of England's finest food writers and Michelin-star chefs. The awards are given in 14 categories and thus it is an honor to report that Oialla has been awarded the prestigious "Chocolate Silver Winner 2011" in the category "Best dark bar - bean to bar." ___________________________________________________________ The Great Taste Award is organized by The Guild of Fine Food, the UK trade association for anyone making or selling top quality food and drink.
